People often tell me they are not writers. I think what they mean is that they don’t always understand grammar rules or feel confident in their writing ability. But many people who claim to not be writers are better than they think they are or at least can communicate effectively.
However, everyone can improve. I was once in a society based on random acts of kindness, and we were guided by a motto that emphasized continuous improvement towards our most ideal self. We referred to each other as birds. I have a tattoo of a bird on my back to remind myself to continually aim to become my best self.
The above quote also resonates with me as a musician; in my spare time, I sing with my local community choir. At our best, our voices blend together in perfect harmony to create something beautiful. Writers and editors working together can create the same effect.
